On the 14th of November our president Nursultan Nazarbayev signed decree that 2019 will be the Year of Youth. Therefore, at the beginning of this year the opening ceremony of the “Year of Youth” took place on the territory of the EXPO in the pavilion “Nur Alem”, on Jauary 23. There the head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev met young Kazakhstanis and gave some tips for the future. The event was attended by winners of the “100 new names” competition, “Bolashak” graduates, young scientists and businessmen.
What do young Kazakhstanis think about this ceremony? Here is what students of Eurasian National University say:
Aida, 1st course: «I think it’s a great idea! I want to join everyone who supports our President, who is doing everything for us, for young people. I think if we unite our strength and mind, it will make a big breakthrough in the development of our country.»
Aibek, 2nd course: «Actually, I watched the ceremony, and I was shocked. Because, I only then realize how talented our young people. Talented in everything, and I think that our president made a good decision making this year the year of youth.»
Zhanerke, 1st course: «I reckon that this is a chance. Chance to prove yourself and become better than now. I am sure there are a lot of smart and talented people in our country, who have big goals and ambitions. So, I think in this year with the help of our state and the President they can achieve their goals.»
The logo of the year was presented on the eve of this ceremony. According to the authors, it symbolizes the flight of a flock of cranes. According to a government decree “On approval of the Road Map for the Year of Youth”, 675 million tenge from the budget will be spend on the forums and other actions within the Year of Youth in 2019.
