After president resigned, in his meeting on March 20, Kassym Zhomart Tokayev rescued the capital to take the name of Elbasy, and also renamed all main streets in all cities and regions. In this regard, in Karaganda, a new avenue appeared – named after Nursultan Nazarbayev – by combining and renaming Boulevard of Peace and N. Tulepova Street.
The decision was taken unanimously by the deputies of the city maslikhat at the extraordinary XXXVI session. Support was expressed by the public of the city.
On the same day, when new president took the oath, an extraordinary session of the regional maslikhat took place in the city, at which the deputies unanimously supported this decision.
Our residents also expressed that “We, Karaganda people, know Nursultan Nazarbayev very well and are proud that he began working in Karaganda land. He paid a lot of attention to the miners, very carefully treated people. That’s why, residents were not opposed, and all agreed unanimously.
