Earth Hour in Kazakhstan

Nur-Sultan (Astana) joined the traditional “Earth Hour” campaign on 30th of March by switching off lighting of buildings: Baiterek Monument, Nur-Alem Sphere, Mangilik El Arch, Opera and Ballet Theatre and others.

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held annually encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on a specific day towards the end of March, as a symbol of commitment to the planet.

“We aim to draw attention to the climate change. We contribute to the prevention of the global warming by switching off the light for just one hour,” said Aygul Solovyeva, head of the Association of Environmental Organizations of Kazakhstan.
