ASTANA. In honor of the
90th anniversary of Chingiz Toreukulovich, an international
forum started in Astana. The main topic of the forum was the discussion of the work of the great prose writer and his influence on world culture as a whole. The event was organized by the International Turkic Academy
with the support of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan. Within the framework of the forum, a film by the Kyrgyz director Artykbay Suyundukov “Aitmatov” was presented, as well as the eponymous book by the former state secretary of the Kyrgyz Republic Osmanakun Ibraimov.
MOSCOW. On the eve of the writer’s birthday, December 8, 2018, in the capital of Russia a monument
dedicated to Aitmatov was opened.
The event was attended by President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Ambassador Bolot Otunbayev, members of the government and deputies. Jeenbekov noted
that Aitmatov is not only the proud of Kyrgyzstan, but also of Russia, since he wrote in Kyrgyz and
Russian. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin thanked those who
worked on the monument. He noted that the monument symbolizes friendship between the two peoples.
BISHKEK. In the capital of Uzbekistan, a bas-relief of Chingiz Aitmatov was found on the street of the same name, the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic reported. According to it, the opening ceremony was held on December 12. During their speeches, the participants of the event noted the talent, creative skill and deep wisdom of Chingiz Aitmatov, who won the hearts of millions of people around the world.
The mayor of Bishkek, Aziz Surakmatov, and the chairman of the city council, Zhanybek Abirov, honored the memory of nation’s writer Chingiz Aitmatov, the mayor’s press service reported. The participants of the event in honor of the 90th birthday of the writer laid flowers at his monument. Metropolitan schoolchildren showed stage settings and read monologues from his works.
