The Embassy of India, Astana, in collaboration with ISKCON Almaty, successfully organized the Gita Mahotsav Exhibition on 12 November 2025 at Fiesta Hall, Almaty. The event celebrated the universal teachings of the Bhagavad Gita — India’s revered scripture that continues to inspire seekers of truth and harmony across the world.
The event was graced by H.E. Shri Y.K.Sailas Thangal, Ambassador of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan, who inaugurated the exhibition sent from Kurukshetra Development Board, Government of Haryana through Ministry of External Affairs. The program was also attended by distinguished guests from the Religious Affairs Department of Kazakhstan, representatives from the Gita Institute, translators of Bhagavad Gita into Kazakh language, members of the Indian diaspora, and devotees from various spiritual organizations.
In his address, the Ambassador highlighted the Bhagavad Gita’s message of righteousness, duty, and devotion, emphasizing its relevance in today’s fast-changing world. He also commended ISKCON Almaty for its efforts in promoting cultural and spiritual understanding between India and Kazakhstan.
The exhibition featured displays on the teachings of the Gita, its philosophical essence, and its influence on global thinkers. Visitors had the opportunity to explore translations, commentaries, and multimedia presentations that conveyed the timeless wisdom of Lord Krishna’s message to Arjuna.
A vibrant cultural program, organized by ISKCON Almaty, added color to the evening with devotional music, classical dance performances, and skits depicting episodes from the Bhagavad Gita. Students and Teachers from Pradnya Yoga Institute performed Kirtan during the cultural programme.
The Gita Mahotsav Exhibition served as a platform to deepen cultural and spiritual ties between India and Kazakhstan, while promoting the values of peace, self-realization, and universal brotherhood.
The event concluded with felicitation of artistes and prasad distribution.
