Ukrainian Center “Оберег”

In the Eurasian National University in the building No. 6 of the FSS (Faculty of Social Sciences)on the first floor in 101 room there is a Ukrainian center where you can enroll in the Society of Ukrainians «Оберег». The purpose of this unification is the preservation of ethnic integrity, culture, the language of Ukrainians, the development of self-awareness, national traditions and customs, the ties of Ukrainians with their historical homeland. The public association of Ukrainians «Oберег» was established in 2003. «Oберег» is part of the Republican Association of Legal Entities «Рада украинцев Казахстана» today.

Main activities:

* Assistance in strengthening peace, friendship and harmony among people, development of international relations;

* Study and propaganda of the history of Ukrainians in Kazakhstan, Ukrainian-Kazakh relations both in the past and at the present stage;

* Active involvement of Ukrainians in interaction with other ethnic groups in Astana and Kazakhstan. Among the priority areas of the society of Ukrainians «Оберег» a special place is occupied with working with young people. Anyone wishing for all dependencies on age and nationality can join this amicable community.

The society «Оберег» pays special attention to issues of charity. The Association closely cooperates and assists «SOS Детская деревня Астана» whose pupils are orphans.

Within the framework of the action «20 летию АНК – 20 добрых дел» the society will hold a number of events: a charity event for the children of the «Согреем детские сердца», a contest of children’s drawings among the ethno-cultural centers «В жизни всегда есть место подвигу»  dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The «Oберег» community also participates in city events and performs with folk songs and dances.
