A prize of the People’s Artist of the USSR Kirill Lavrov (Кирилл Лавров) was awarded to the Moscow Russian Drama Theater named after M.Gorky. The award was presented on the margins of the 20th Anniversary International Theater Festival “Meetings in Russia” in St. Petersburg by the actor of the theatre-festival “Baltic House” Konstantin Anisimov (Константин Анисимов) The initiator of the invitation was the Center for Support of Russian Theaters Abroad.
Team of actors of performance “Eugene Onegin” (director: Yuriy Kvyatkovskiy (Юрий Квятковский) Moscow, Russia) was chosen for participation, which is very popular among residents and guests of Astana.
One of the oldest theaters in Kazakhstan, the State Academic Russian Drama Theatre named after M. Gorky in Astana was created at the end of the XIX century, and now for the second millennium due to the ability to hear and express time and appreciate the truth, the theatre has won a steadfast devotion to the audience.
The best Kirill Lavrov prize is awarded to the best Russian theaters working abroad. The prize was established in 2008. It is awarded for the performance-participant of the festival “Meetings in Russia”, recognized as the best as a result of the audience’s voting. In different years the theaters from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Estonia were awarded.
