The Rixos President Hotel recently hosted the Opening of the Center for Supporting Women in Culture – ART QALQA (AQ). The inaugural event featured an exhibition by artist Asemgul Zhanakhmetova, titled “The World through the Woman’s Eyes” where she skillfully blends elements of traditional Kazakh culture with modern artistic techniques.
The event brought together women from diverse creative professions – writers, artists, musicians, performers, as well as key figures from business, Parliament, Embassies, and international organizations. The goal was to create a dynamic platform for sharing ideas and exploring opportunities for collaboration and development.
The British Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kate Lynch and representatives of the Turkish Embassy and the US Embassy attended the event.
The AQ Center’s mission is to contribute to a more inclusive, open, and prosperous society by promoting and supporting women’s creative projects on both a national and international level. The Center is already in discussions with organizers of international exhibitions, art festivals and educational programs from countries such as Italy, Turkey, and others, further expanding its reach and influence.
The creation of the AQ Center is driven by women working in various areas of Kazakhstan’s cultural industry. Their efforts are focused on fostering female leadership, supporting emerging talent, enhancing professional skills, and building a strong network of active and creative women committed to shaping the future of culture.
