International Day of Human Space Flight

Today, April 12 marks the day of Cosmonautics, also called the International day of human space flight. April 12 is a significant date for all mankind, because on this day man first flew around The Earth’s orbit. Right 57 years ago, Yuri Gagarin (Юрий Гагарин) was launched from Baikonur cosmodrome on Board the spaceship “Vostok-1”. Yuri Gagarin flew around the Earth’s orbit in 1 hour 48 minutes.  

Cosmonautics day is a particularly significant day for the people of Kazakhstan. Baikonur cosmodrome, located on the territory of Kazakhstan, for many years holds a leading position in the number of launches. From the Baikonur cosmodrome launched not only Gagarin, and Kazakhstan as the astronauts Toktar Aubakirov (Токтар Аубакиров), Talgat Musabayev (Талгат Мусабаев), Aydin Aimbetov (Айдын Айымбетов).

Toktar Ongarbaevich Aubakirov — USSR cosmonaut, the first cosmonaut of Kazakh nationality. He is the Hero of the Nation of Kazakhstan (1995), Hero of the Soviet Union (1988), Honored test pilot of the USSR (1990).

 

Talgat Amangeldievich Musabaev — Soviet cosmonaut, spent in space – 341 days 9 hours 48 minutes and 41 seconds. Talgat has titles of Hero of The Russian Federation (1994), Hero of the Nation of Kazakhstan (1995).

 

Aydin Akanovich Aimbetov — Kazakh cosmonaut, Hero of the Nation of Kazakhstan (2015), major General of the air force of Kazakhstan.

Every year on April 12, all cosmonauts in the world are celebrated and revered, revealing the facets of the unknown and contributing to the development of technologies in outer space.
