“Hello, dear diary…” : Plastic jewelry

This story is about two sisters, Saida and Dina, who with their own hands, make jewelry and new plastic bags from garbage. Plastic is collected at work, at home, on the street. It’s cleaned with soap and water, dried and cut off the bottom and handles of the bag. It turns out the canvas. Then they iron plastic through parchment paper, it shrinks and becomes more solid. That’s the way girls get the material for work.

Hello, dear diary. My name is Saida. When I was sitting on Facebook, I watched a video about a whale who was dying, and it turned out that it had plastic waste in his stomach. Then it was like a sign to me, as if that whale was carrying this deadly message that our nature was in danger. And I began to study this pollution problem and I had an idea to start working on plastic recycling. We can walk along the street and see a package there. We use twenty packets for one earring, but we do not use all the canvas. That is, one pair of earrings can be made from one canvas”.

I went to art school when I was a child. I always painted dresses, I wanted to be a designer, but unfortunately, my parents had more serious plans for me. Now they fully support us. Our country’s doing everything to solve the issues of ecology so people slowly but surely go to that point. Many people are exactly interested in plastic processing, and garbage sorting now. We have plans to open such a space in which we will process plastic by ourselves and people can come, take part in the process too. People say that the garbage is rotting for a thousand years, but we cannot say for sure since plastic has existed for only 100 years. Therefore we try to encourage them not to use plastic thouthtles I think we are trying to convey this message through our case.

Ukrainian music video director Alan Badoev also supported the ecology topic. He shot a video for the ONUKA band’ song Strum. The shooting took place 25 kilometers from Kiev – in Podgortsy. There is the main dump of a capital domestic waste, which over the decades of its existence has grown to the size of a 27-story building.

Therefore, together with the public organization Україна без сміття, they launched the initiative ECOSTRUM.

All funds from the monetization of the new clip, posted on the YouTube channel, the group decided to deduct the organization, which is engaged in the improvement of waste sorting stations.
