The combat fight is an innovated kind of Kazakh national sports art with a centuries-old history. The rich history of this military art type is evidenced by ancient signs on the mountain ranges of Eshkiolmes in the Almaty region. Since ancient times on the territory of Kazakhstan this type of art was considered as one of the most significant in the people’s tradition , the proof of which are artifacts: signs and figures on stones, folklore and ethnographic materials, written and archival sources. As one of the martial arts types, the combat fight is inextricably linked with the nation’s life history. The combat kures originated back in the time of the Saks and Guns, developed along with these peoples and gained its place among the Kazakh society. The name “combat kures” itself speaks of the fighting people and the great battles of that time. The traditional connection between the glorified people in fairy tales, legends and epic poems by mighty strongmen-batyrs and today’s famous fighters continues thanks to our national fight. In rural areas of Kazakhstan many ancient customs are respected, carefully preserved and our traditional wrestling is highly respect. No celebration, holiday or wedding ceremony, as already mentioned, can not be held without wrestling matches of temperamental Kazakh zhigits. The wrestling attracts a lot of people, causes a noisy interest of fans. The kures battle served as one of the main tools of physical education among our ancestors, one of the most important ways of training soldiers, defenders of the Kazakh steppe for centuries.

In addition, the battle kures is a way to a great sport for athletes. The rules of the fighting kures, as the rules of any other wrestling, are being improved from year to year, taking on new attractive techniques to make the fight spectacular, in order to bring this sport closer to modern Olympic wrestling. The fighting bush is being developed under the Kazakh kures  Federation leadership. That is why the kures community encourage young people to engage in it more actively. After all, fighting kures is all about strength, skill, and health. And today it is time to revive this art, to give it a second wind and develop as a new sport.

In the comprehensive study and revival of this sport the scientists of the Eurasian National University played a major role, they are  working on its popularization in the world now. For example, an international scientific and practical conference on the theme “Kazakh Combat Courland: History, Techniques, Technology” was held at the university.
