World Wildlife Fund is calling to turn off the lights for one hour today.
Earth Hour is an annual event held since 2007 by the Foundation to attract public interest to the problems of light and climate pollution. The event is held annually on the last Saturday of March and will take place today, 24 March 2018 from 20:30 to 21:30 local time.
Kazakhstan officially joined the campaign in 2009, when two cities, Astana and Almaty took part. However, already in 2013 millions of Kazakhstanis supported the action and more than a hundred buildings were plunged into darkness for an hour.

In 2018, Earth Hour will be held under the slogan “Connect to Earth”. Today to support the mark of the annual Earth Hour campaign in Astana will turn off the backlight of the Palace of peace and accord, Palace of Independence, capital circus, “Bayterek” monument, shopping center “MEGA Silk Way”, the Nazarbayev University, the ice Palace “Alau”, theatre named after Kuanyshbaev, triumphal arch, bridges by the Sarayshik and Syganak streets.
