At the beginning of April 2018 , premiere of the film “Amre” (“Амре”) was held in Astana for the first time. The film tells about an interesting, but early-ending life of the Kazakh singer Amre Kashaubaev (Амре Кашаубаев). In 1925 he went to Paris for the World Music Competition, where he made a splash.
Amre Kashaubayev was the first in the world to present the vocal and performing arts of the Kazakhs and the national instrument of dombra to the European public. In the film, in addition, it tells about the friendship of Amre Kashaubayev and the famous American jazz composer George Gershwin.
In the film, Kazakh songs from the repertoire of Amre:” Balkhadisha”(“Балқадиша”), “Ush dos”(“Үш дос”), “Dudarai”(“Дударай”), “Bes karager”(“Бес қарагер”) and others.
Filming took place in Latvia, Los Angeles and in the village of Ushkonyr in Almaty region. The main role is played by Sanjar Madiev (“Zolotaya Orda”(“Золотая Орда”), “Zashchitniki”(“Защитники”). Also in the film there were world known actors – Ben Aldridge and Abbie Cornish (“Geostorm”, “Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri”, “Robocop”).
The film “Amre” was the first huge joint project of the film studio “Kazakhfilm” in 2018. The international film crew was led by American production director Jeff Vespa. The operator was Maxim Osadchiy (Максим Осадчий) (“9 rota” (“9 рота”), “Stalingrad”(“Сталинград”)). The author of the script was Benjamin A. van der Vin.
