National Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Celebrated in Astana.
The National Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was celebrated in Astana.
The official event began with the national anthems of Kazakhstan and Pakistan, performed by the children’s choir of the Astana Opera.
Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Nauman Bashir Bhatti, delivered a welcome speech. He noted that since gaining independence, Pakistan has overcome numerous challenges, demonstrating the nation’s unwavering resilience, courage, and determination.
– On this memorable day, we pay tribute to our valiant armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and the people of Pakistan for their sacrifices and noble struggle in defending, securing, and ensuring the prosperity of our homeland, as well as for combating the threat of terrorism for more than two decades. On our National Day, in addition to honoring our founding fathers, we also express our gratitude to our friends and partners who have always been a source of strength throughout our post-independence journey, – said Mr. Nauman Bashir Bhatti.
He emphasized that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relationship with the brotherly country of Kazakhstan.
– Our countries maintain bilateral ties rooted deeply in shared history and culture. We also share a common goal of peace, progress, and prosperity for the region. The leadership of our two countries is fully committed to elevating the existing bilateral relations to new heights. This is evident in the frequent meetings between the leaders of our countries, – the Ambassador noted.
He recalled that last year, the Prime Minister of Pakistan visited Astana to participate in the SCO Summit at the level of heads of state. Later, the Honorable Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited Islamabad for the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting. Currently, both sides are working on preparing a number of structured and high-level meetings planned for this year.
As in other areas, bilateral cooperation in the field of security and defense is developing within the framework of cooperation agreements. It aims to strengthen peace and security and to combat extremism, terrorism, and other transnational crimes.
Significant achievements have also been made in the economic and trade sectors. In 2024, bilateral trade turnover reached 239 million US dollars — more than a 100 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Pakistan offers the shortest and most economically viable route for Kazakhstan within the framework of the North-South Corridor.
Regular educational and cultural exchanges, as well as cooperation in sports, also contribute to strengthening the ties between the peoples. Currently, more than 1500 Pakistani students are studying in Kazakhstan.
– Pakistan remains committed to strengthening our bilateral relations with Kazakhstan, and to peace, progress, and prosperity for our peoples, – concluded Mr. Nauman Bashir Bhatti.
In his turn, Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Talgat Lastayev congratulated all presents on the holiday and confirmed the country’s readiness to further develop bilateral relations for the benefit of the two countries.
Guests of the event were offered traditional Pakistani dishes and beverages.
