International Language Olympiad was held in the walls of Eurasian National University on the 28th of February. Participants could examine their knowledge in English, French and German languages. Olympiad was approved by the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Zholdasbekova A.N.
The registration of students started took place in the ULK atrium(УЛК) at 9:00 to 10:00. The opening of the olympiad was held in 259 auditorium, where the dean of the Faculty of International Relations and guests from foreign countries, cities and other universities had a speech.
The Olympiad consisted of three parts: listening, lexical grammatical test and speaking.
The importance of this annual olympiad lies in the fact that the Eurasian National University, being the flagship of higher education in Kazakhstan, becomes a launching pad for talented young people from all over our country, as well as from near and far abroad.
The main goals and objectives of the Olympiad in foreign languages among students of non-linguistic specialties are to promote the idea of multilingualism, improve the quality of teaching foreign languages at the university, determine the level of foreign language skills, increase motivation to learn foreign languages, expand the sociocultural, linguistic-cultural knowledge of students, develop foreign-language communicative competence.
Regular conducting of the Olympiad should contribute to the formation of a classical higher education institution, the identification of talents, and the unfolding of the intellectual potential of modern university students.
More than 200 of the best students from various higher educational institutions in Astana, Almaty, Pavlodar, Osh, Karaganda, Kokshetau, Kharkov, Aktyubinsk gathered to demonstrate their level of proficiency in foreign languages.
