WORLD NEWS: Munster van attack

In the city of Munster in Western Germany on April 7, the van drove into a crowd of pedestrians. The incident immediately received wide publicity because of assumptions about the terrorist attack. The driver of the van shot himself without leaving the car. The German police denied all assumptions about the terrorist attack. The driver of the van was a German citizen and did not give signs of criminal activity. Part of the city where the incident occurred was cordoned off.

As a result, three people were killed including the driver of the van. About 20 people were injured, some are assessed as critical. The van crashed into a crowd of people in the square with cafes and restaurants with terraces, which led to a large number of victims. German sources also report that the driver had previously attempted suicide and sent a suicide letter to his family in March.

Police asked residents and guests to leave the city center and not to spread false information and photos. The police also added that there is no cause for concern and all measures are exclusively for the safety of citizens.
