An Inglorious, Uproarious Thrill-Ride of Vengeance.
“Inglourious Basterds” can rightfully be in the list of the best movies of the first decade of the 21st century. Signature style of Quentin Tarantino and attention to detail the plot will not leave the viewer indifferent. The plot of the film takes the viewer to the Word War II times, where in the Nazi-occupied France “hunter of the jews” Hans Landa is looking for jew-fugitives. It is worth noting that the great acting of Christoph Waltz who played Hans, won Academy Award for best supporting actor.
However, who are basterds? The detachment of “basterds” consisting of jews of American origin, headed by Lieutenant Aldo Raine, successfully brings fear to the fascist soldiers. The squad ruthlessly kills and takes the scalp from any German Nazi, which they caught on the way. The performance of Brad Pitt as Aldo “The Apache” Raine attracts and holds until the end, keeps the viewer remaining fascinated by the characters of Pitt and Waltz. It is noteworthy, that in the film parallel intersects with the storyline starring Melanie Laurent. Melanie’s character is the girl who escaped at the beginning of the movie, who subsequently appears in front of the audience as the owner of the cinema Emmanuel Mimieux. Emmanuel, as well as Aldo “The Apache”, is experiencing a chronic hatred of the German Nazis.
Tarantino being not only the director of the film, but also the screenwriter, skillfully interweaves two subject lines in the movie. The film is rich for talented actors from Britain, Germany, America and France. Despite the fact that the plot takes place during World War II, the film is largely departs from the canons of war movies, which the viewer used to watch. Someone says that it is impossible to distort historical events, when someone talks about special Tarantino’s style. However, I recommend to enjoy watching this movie without expectation of canonic representation.
«You know somethin’ Uitivich,
I think this just might be my masterpiece.», — Aldo “The Apache” Raine.
